John Wesley Short
John Wesley Short, 77, of Wilburton, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019 at his home.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Jones Harkins Funeral Home Chapel.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Wilburton with Rev. Paul Brady officiating. The burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wilburton.
Pallbearers will be Destry Harber, Dustin Harber, Darren Harber, Justin Turney, Steve Miller and Bain Durant.
Honorary pallbearers will be Darrel “Buck” Harber, Larry Turney and Mike Woody.
John was born July 8, 1941 in North Hollywood, CA to Emmett Short and Vinletta (Haworth) Short. He graduated from Okeene High School with the Class of 1959. He married the love of his life, Caroll Louise Harber on September 11, 1989 in Wilburton whom they share almost 30 years of marriage.
John had a love of cars, especially classic ’55 and ’57 Chevrolets. He worked at Amaco for over 40 years and retired in 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Caroll Louise (Harber) Short of the home; children, Micah John Short and wife, Kristy of Huntsville, AL, Shelly Von Short of Oklahoma City and Tina Lanette Slater and husband, David of Wilburton; grandchildren, Kaitlynn Micah Short and Emily Rose Short both of Huntsville, AL; great granddaughter, Miley Lynn Harris; sisters, Beatrice Inscore and husband, Cliff of Springfield, MO and Joan Dickerson of Orlando, FL; sisters-in-law, Lisa Turney and husband, Larry of McAlester and Debbie Woody and husband, Mike of Nacogdoches, TX; brother-in-law, Buck Harber and wife, Brenda of Wilburton and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and a host of friends.
John is preceded in death by his father, Emmett Short; mother, Vinletta Short; and, brother-in-law, Robert Dickerson.
