Elementary TAG takes spring field trip
On Wednesday, May 3rd, the elementary TAG (Talented and Gifted) students took a trip to the Oklahoma City National Memorial. Our day began with a presentation called Stories of Hope. A woman named, Terrie, who was 26 years old at the time of the bombing told her story of survival, having been trapped inside a wall many stories below where she was when the bomb went off in the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995.
Her rescuer, whose name was Rowdy, almost passed her by, but for whatever reason turned around and saw the fabric of her jacket through a very small hole in the wall. At first he thought it was a pillow or cushion. When he realized it was a person trapped he began chipping away at the wall with whatever he could find to work with. Two other rescue workers came by and started helping. Terrie said breathing was very difficult for her as there was limited oxygen where she was trapped.
