Okeene students enjoy Literacy Day at Library

The Watonga Public Library and Blaine County Oklahoma Home and Community Education members sponsored an Oklahoma author to encourage Blaine County school children to read. Marla Jones, Yukon presented a session to Geary, Canton and Okeene second and third grade students about how an idea becomes a published book. She also read one of her recent books to the group. Ms. Jones is an author, illustrator and a publisher. Blaine County OHCE co-sponsored her visit as part of the state-wide Family Issues project-to encourage literacy for young children. In addition to the seminar, each school received a set of 5 books authored or illustrated by Ms. Jones for their school library. This is the 5th year for this partnership and to host an Oklahoma author.
