Harvest is in full swing
Farmers are taking advantage of the weather to get into the fields and bring in the crops.
So far approximately 200,000 bushels of wheat have been brought in here in Okeene. Moisture had been averaging 12 percent, with a protein of 13 to 15 percent, and test weights from 56 to 60. Wheat harvest appears to be more than half complete in this area.
“The Loyal area has done really well,” Alex White said. “We’ve got around 300,000 bushel and they are continuing to cut. They are probably 80 percent done. The test weights, moisture and protein were all very similar. Fairview is probably the hardest hit area with the drought.”
