Local business owner reports flooding problems to city hall

Okeene Town Board of Trustees met Tue., Apr. 9, for their regular monthly public meeting.

Present at this meeting was Amy Reames and her mother, Linda Reames. Reames was at the meeting to discuss a flooding issue at the Galvanized Palace.

Reames explained that the issue has been ongoing for approximately three months now, since last fall when the city hired a company to lay asphalt in the alley running west of the business.

“They laid the asphalt over the existing road, thereby making a huge improvement of the look and the smoothness of the alley, which is great,” Reames said. “But in doing so, they raised the level of the alley considerably. We’ve experienced flooding since this change was made, and we have never had an issue in the past.”
