Okeene band members rehearse for area honor band
Students from Okeene had an opportunity to audition for the All Area Honor Roll Band on Friday Jan. 10th and Jan. 11th. The students that were selected spent their weekend in Fairview. Mrs. Stufflebeam, took the students Friday and Saturday to the clinics and the concert.
Fairview Public School opened up their auditorium doors for the All Area Band Concert Saturday Jan. 11, 2020. They hosted clinics for 6th thru 12th grade, Friday Jan. 10th and Saturday morning Jan. 11th. The Concert was held Saturday Jan. 11th at 2pm in the auditorium. Jackson Anderson, from Garber was the MC for the afternoon. First year honor band students from the sixth grade opened up the concert with three amazing numbers. Richard Stahlcup, from Chisholm was the clinician and director for this age group. The first ensemble was Amazing Fan Fair, followed by a poem Creatures in the Attic, read by Jackson. The elementary students then played a tribute to the poem that was outstanding. Last the group of young students played Antique Car Parade and it was just as exceptional as the first two songs.
Students from Okeene playing the flute included Ava McCollum, Indy Moore, and Emma Johnson. Clarinet players included Caden Reames, Marley Bisel, Valerie Martinez, Julia Penner, Alicyn McEachern, and Avery Fisher. The alto saxophone was played only by William Woolley. Trumpet players were Keri McBride, and Andrew Schroeder. The trombone was only played by John Johnson. The snare was only played by Corbin Cagle.
