Oklahoma Blood Institute Visits Okeene
Oklahoma Blood Institute visited Okeene’s Masonic Lodge for donations last Thu., Apr. 4, for their regularly scheduled blood drive in the area.
Jessica Moore, Mobile Supervisor in Phlebotomy for OBI, discussed the event with The Okeene Record.
“Our goal was 32 donors, and we got about 22. So, we didn’t quite get there,” said Moore.
Moore stated that they have a new “Alex machine” that allows the drawing of more than the previous blood-only donations. This machine provides for the drawing of plasma. With this machine, mobile blood drives need no longer send qualified donors wishing to donate plasma to a physical lab for the donation.
