Stitt is taking on tough issues as governor

Gov. Kevin Stitt is taking on some tough issues as governor. Stitt has brought new hope to Oklahoma as his upbeat message of becoming a “Top 10 State” has resonated with many.

Stitt spoke to a group of supporters at a private reception last Friday at a Charleston’s restaurant in Bricktown, Oklahoma City.

Legislation was passed this last legislative session that gave Gov. Stitt the ability to hire and fire agency heads of the top five Oklahoma agencies (based on annual budgets). A monumental accomplishment that Stitt says will help him move forward with his agenda to make Oklahoma a “Top 10 State.”

“Imagine being the head coach at the University of Oklahoma and somebody telling you that you don’t get to hire your own offensive or defensive coordinators,” said Stitt.

The governor went on to say that the way things were before the change of law was that if your other coaches were not doing what you needed them to do, you couldn’t even replace them because they basically answered to someone else.

Many other agencies still answer to their own independent boards, but Stitt says making the agency heads accountable to the governor in the top five agencies is a step in the right direction in moving the state forward.
