West Point Cadet shares unexpected journey with Kiwanis

Oklahoma native Abigail Burris spoke to a packed house at the Okeene Kiwanis meeting, Thursday, Aug. 1. A graduate of Piedmont High School, 20-year-old Cadet Burris spoke about her experiences leading up to and including her time at West Point.

When Burris first saw an email urging her to apply for West Point, she immediately deleted it. However, after much soul searching, she started thinking that it might be the way to get where she wants to be in life. She said this choice puts one on the front lines, where someone could lose his or her life. She said it was the best choice she could have made.
