New superintendent Mike Jinkens hosted two Sunday meetings the last few weeks to help address the decline in the high school students’ participation in athletic programs.

The concern starts with a football program that has had less than 20 players regularly commit to Spring Football and the off-season strength and conditioning workouts. Only a decade since Okeene High School last won the last of three-straight State Championships, Jinkens and new head coach Todd Wilson are left asking themselves where the pride and commitment is to a football program that was at the top of Class A not long ago.
