The Okeene Rattlesnake Hunt returns this week for its 78th year and as part of this year’s event a snake related world record may be broken on Saturday.
According to long-time snake hunter Todd Felder, the record for lying down in a bathtub with the most snakes could be broken on Saturday at 3 p.m. At that time, Pennsylvania resident Dave Thomas, himself no stranger to snake hunts will attempt to break the record currently held by Jackie Bibby, also known as the Texas Snakeman.
“Dave is a friend of Jackie Bibby, helped him previously break the record,” Felder said. “Jackie has loaned Dave his tub and now he is going to try to break Jackie’s record.”
The idea of lying in a tub with snakes is exactly what you would suspect.
“It is a see through tub and you are just sitting in there like you are taking your finest bubble bath,” Felder said. “While he is in there we will put the snakes on top of him. We are going to put about 200 snakes in there with him.”
