Busy week ends with both JH basketball teams earning third-place in Dover
Last week, Okeene’s junior high basketball teams kicked off the season with a tournament in Dover that concluded on Saturday. It was a strong start to the year as both the girls and boys brought home the third-place hardware from the eightteam event.
However, the three-day competition was not the only action for Okeene during the week as they also competed in Geary on Tuesday, making it a busy week. Both teams kicked off the tournament on Monday with victories over Billings as the girls won 38-5, and the boys cruised by a score of 42-20.
For the girls, Zoey Clester led the scoring with 14 points, while Sydney Biggs added nine of her own. Hannah Swart tallied six points in the contest, while Rieley Schroeder put in three. Madison Seville, Ava Bierig and Grace Salerno each pitched in a basket as well.
