Busy week in track ends with pair of third-place finishes

The Okeene track teams were busy last week with a total of meets between the high school, junior high, and fifth/ sixth grade teams. While the high school athletes competed in Fairview on Tuesday and Covington-Douglas on Friday, the junior high and fifth/ sixth-grade teams each made a trip to Covington-Douglas.

For the high school girls, Maleah Mayfield had a big week as she placed twice in the pole vault, including taking first place at Covington-Douglas with her height of 8 feet. She also placed fifth twice in the 300-meter hurdles with her time of 57.78 being her best time of the week. Mayfield also finished sixth in the high jump at Covington-Douglas with a jump of four feet, four inches.

Rachel Wilson also had a pair of solid performances over the week. She placed twice in the long jump at the two meets, including finishing fourth at Covington-Douglas with her leap of 15 feet, one inch. Wilson also finished fourth in the 400-meter dash in Fairview with a time of 1:09.50.
