Errors cost JH Whippets in season-opener
The Okeene Junior High baseball team opened their season last Tuesday in Helena against the Timberlake Tigers. While the Whippets had some success, both at the plate and on the mound, the Tigers ran away with a 12-3 victory over Okeene.
Errors were the overwhelming factor as Okeene committed nine while Timberlake had a mistake-free outing in the field. In fact, the Whippets only gave up two hits in the game, despite the Tigers putting up 12 runs against them.
On the mound, Brody Jinkens tossed 1 2/3 innings, giving up only one hit and walking five. While Jinkens surrendered ten runs over that stretch, only two were earned, and the lefty struck out four batters in the process.
