Hot-shooting girls take two of three as Okeene teams prepare for playoffs

Last week, Okeene wrapped up their final week of the regular season with three game apiece against Cherokee, Timberlake and Burlington. While the boys were only able to pick one win on the week, the girls took two out of three, and pushed 11th-ranked Burlington in a close contest.

The Lady Whippets started out the week hosting Cherokee on Monday night for Senior Night. In that game, senior Maleah Mayfield came out on fire as she collected nine points and five rebounds in the opening quarter.

That efforts helped Okeene build a five-point lead heading in the second frame, and the Lady Whippets pushed it to six heading into the half. Still, it was an early third-quarter run that saw Okeene take a firm grasp of the game, and this time, it was Hailey Swart scoring nine points in the frame.
