Hussey tabbed as new Okeene Boys’ Basketball Coach

Last week, the Okeene School Board approved the hiring of Chad Hussey as the new basketball coach of the Okeene Whippets. Hussey will be coaching the boys’ basketball team, as well as helping with track and teaching history at either the junior high or high school level.

Hussey spent his last three years as the head coach basketball coach of Mangum High School, having made it to the Area Round of the playoffs all three years. In those three years, his teams combined for 54 wins, and this past season they came in at 19th in Class 2A in the final rankings.

Prior to that, Hussey spent 13 years coaching in Hooker, where he graduated from as a kid. He has also spent time coaching at Kremlin-Hillsdale and Sayre, as well as in Pearl, Texas. Although Hussey had a fair amount of success at Mangum, he is excited to be getting to the smaller school ranks.
