JH Whippets split a pair after rain shifts schedule

Weather shuffled the junior high team’s schedule last week but in the end, the Lady Whippets wound up taking on the Cherokee Lady Chiefs on Tuesday and Aline-Cleo on Thursday. Originally, Okeene was scheduled to take on Aline-Cleo’s junior high team in Aline on Tuesday, while the high school team was supposed to take on Cherokee at that location.

However, with rain flooding the Aline field, Cherokee agreed to send their junior high squad to Okeene with the high school team to make up for the cancellation, while the Lady Whippets and Aline-Cleo rescheduled for Thursday. The Lady Whippets split the two games this week, losing to the Lady Chiefs 11-2, and beating Aline-Cleo 12-10.

Against Cherokee, Madison Munden batted leadoff and singled in her first at-bat, while also scoring a run. Munden has been one of the team’s more consistent hitters, and produced one of Okeene’s only two hits on the night.
