Junior High teams compete in Sharon-Mutual tourney as boys take home Consolation Title
Last week, the Okeene Junior High basketball teams traveled to Sharon to take part in Sharon-Mutual’s Junior High Basketball Tournament. While the girls lost each of their two games in the eightteam event, the boys won two of three to take home the consolation hardware at the tournament.
The boys opened up with a 20-19 loss to Buffalo in a Monday contest where neither team could find any offense in the second half. After the two squads combined for 29 points in the opening half, Okeene outscored the Bison 6-4 in the second half to come up a point shy of forcing overtime.
Brody Jinkens led the way with nine points in the game, including three of their six in the final half. William Karbs and Kaleb Outhier each added three points in the contest, while Trevor Caddick and Reiley Luckie both put in two.
