Junior high teams take three of four on the road
Prior to school letting out for Winter Break, the Okeene Junior High basketball teams participated in back-to-back away games taking on Waukomis on December 17, and Canton the following night. The girls continued to dominate the competition in a pair of blowouts, while the boys split their games with both contests being decided by two points or less.
The girls started the week off by defeating the Lady Chiefs 36-13, in a game that saw Okeene limit Waukomis to a single point in the first half thanks in large part to forcing 10 first quarter turnovers. That gave the Lady Whippets a 20-point lead heading into the locker room, and while the defense wasn’t quite as stingy in the second half the victory was never in doubt.
Kaylin Aldrich knocked down 13 points in the victory, while Maddie Schmidt added seven. Ryann Duke had one of her top performances of the year collecting six rebounds to match six points, while going 3-4 from the field.
