Lady Tigers finish third in Okeene Tourney
After nearly a month off, the Canton Lady Tigers returned to the court last week with four games to restart the action. Despite missing Arianna Green, who will miss some time with a sprained ankle, Canton was able to defeat Mooreland 37-31 on Tuesday and win two of three games in the Okeene Invitational to finish in third place at the event.
In Canton’s Tuesdaynight win against Mooreland, the Lady Tigers struggled to shoot early in the game. Still, they made a run right before the half to capture a one-point lead at the break, and Canton never looked back from there.
Hopelin Hood consistently got to the charity stripe in the third quarter, knocking down six of her eight attempts to extend the Canton lead to three. Then, in the fourth quarter, four different Lady Tigers scored to help seal the victory for Canton.
Hood and Paige Robison led the way in the win with 14 points apiece. Maelee Ferguson added three points, while Taylor Dowell, Madison Rauh and Laney Russell each put in two.
