Lady Whippets’ offensive struggles see them ousted by Kinta
Last Thursday, the Okeene Lady Whippets saw their season come to an end on the first day of the Area Round against the Kinta Lady Eagles. After winning three-straight games in the Regional Round to advance, Okeene struggled with one of their roughest performances of the season against Kinta.
With Kinta only having six girls on the roster, it seemed as if the Lady Whippets would have a strong chance at advancing to the second day of the bracket. After averaging 54 points a game in the first two rounds of the playoffs, Okeene’s offense had them coming into the Area Round really clicking on offense, but that just wasn’t the case last Thursday.
On the first offensive possession for the Lady Whippets, Madison Schmidt got called for an offensive charge, and it seemed like nothing went right from that point forward on the offensive end.
Not only were the Lady Whippets shut out in the first quarter, but they were hardly able to get open looks at the basket thanks to Kinta’s defense. On top of that, Okeene could not seem to find their shooting stroke from the perimeter, allowing the Lady Eagles to build a 10-0 advantage after one.
