Lady Whippets finish off

busy week with playoffs approaching

Last week, the Okeene High school softball team managed to cram eight games into their schedule, thanks to the rescheduled final rounds of the Cimarron Tournament. Okeene split the contests (4-4) to bring their season record to 15-7 as the playoffs draw nearer.

On Monday, Okeene canceled their scheduled game with Dover to complete the final rounds in Cimarron. In the first game, Okeene came from behind to force extra innings and defeat Timberlake 15-12.

Aline-Cleo’s Alexus Naegle had a monster game, collecting five hits, while knocking in three runs and scoring another. Megan Ryel and Makenzie Caddick each added three hits as well.

Unfortunately, Okeene was on the other side of a late-inning comeback against Pond Creek-Hunter in the next game. The Lady Panthers scored a pair of runs in the final inning to steal the victory 8-7.
