Lady Whippets hit the hardwood in Kingfisher Basketball Festival

While the recent pandemic having restricted the summer schedule for schools across Oklahoma, the Lady Whippets high school basketball team was able to compete in Kingfisher’s Summer Basketball Festival last Monday and Tuesday.

The Lady Whippets got to compete in eight games over the two-day stretch, giving Coach Patrick Penner and the girls an opportunity to get some muchneeded experience in this summer.

“It was a good week for us,” stated Penner. “The first day started off a little rough, just not knowing where to go and what to do. It wasn’t bad, but we haven’t gotten a lot of time to work together and it was new for some of them. Tuesday was completely better. We got better throughout the day. Our defensive rotation got better. We actually got to run some of our offensive sets which was nice because we haven’t gotten a chance to do that much with everything that has been going on (with the pandemic). I was pretty happy with these two days.”
