Nease’s five-run night leads
Last week was a wild one for the high school softball girls, as the Lady Whippets split their two contests with Timberlake and Thomas. While Okeene won a shootout with the Lady Tigers by a score of 19-18 on Tuesday, they lost to the Lady Terriers by a score of 18-5 in a contest that was delayed because Okeene’s tripped to Thomas was stalled by a shattered windshield on the team bus.
After blowout Timberlake the week prior, the Lady Whippets had their hands full on Tuesday. Fortunately, the top of the lineup was sensational for Okeene. Freshman Hannah Nease hasn’t been fazed by Coach Steve Heckert batting her leadoff during her first high school season.
On Tuesday, Nease reached base on all five of her plate appearances including two singles, a double and a triple. Even better, the freshman shortstop scored all five times to help lead the offensive explosion for Okeene.
