As softball team continues to prepare for season, Coach Heckert returns home from hospital after heart scare

As of July 15, softball teams have been allowed to start practicing to prepare for the upcoming season that starts in August. However, for the Lady Whippets, that process has taken a scary turn as they continued to practice last week without head coach, Steve Heckert.

Heckert was mediflighted to St. Anthony’s last Saturday where it was discovered that his heart was not working properly. After dealing with an irregular heart rhythm throughout the early part of the week, Heckert’s heart was able to correct itself and he was able to return home.

The coach is currently recuperating from the scary scenario, and would like to thank everyone for their well-wishes and prayers. Provided there are no further issues, Heckert is expected to be able to return to his coaching duties in the near future.
