Turnovers put Okeene in early hole; Whippets fall to OBA
The Okeene Whippets saw their four-game win streak snapped last Friday in Enid against Oklahoma Bible Academy by a score of 33-13. The loss is Okeene’s first in district play, bringing them to 2-1, and 4-2 overall.
For the second-straight week, turnovers plagued the Whippets’ offense, and the special teams coughed the ball up twice as well, for a total of six turnovers on the day. Three interceptions, as well as three fumbles not only put the defense in some tough spots, but also stalled a couple of drives deep in Trojans’ territory that could have resulted in points.
“You can’t have that many mistakes,” said Wilson. “Especially where they are happening. We are giving them short fields, and not making them have to work hard to score. That is something we have to do a better job of. If you want to be competitive you can’t turn the ball over like that.”
