Whippets see first action of the off-season at Canton’s Summer Passing League
It may have been mid-June, but the Okeene Whippets got their first live action of eight-man football a few weeks ago, when they traveled to Canton for their Summer Passing League. The two-day, four-team event featured five-on-five play, designed specifically for eight-man schools, and after a round of exhibitions on the first day, the Whippet’s won two of three contests in the tournament to close out the event.
While seven-on-seven leagues are quite common, eight-man teams have far less opportunities to compete in passing leagues, making the experience that much more valuable for new coach, Chad Miller and the Whippets, who didn’t get an opportunity to participate in a team this summer.
