Young Whippets drop two in Waukomis

The Okeene fifth and sixth-grade basketball teams traveled to Waukomis last Monday for a pair of games with the Chiefs. Unfortunately, both teams fell as the Lady Whippets lost 14-11, and the Whippets lost 29-5.

In the girls’ contest, Okeene was held scoreless in the opening quarter, and that ended up being crucial late in a game that came down to the final minute. The Lady Whippets played from behind all night, yet were able to tie things up late in the fourth quarter thanks to a shot by Kadence Lewis.

Unfortunately, Waukomis immediately regained the lead on the next possession and Okeene could not come up with another basket for the win. Emma Halverson led all scorers with seven points in the game, while Aspen Majors put in three points and Lewis had just the fourthquarter basket.
