Young Whippets drop two in Waukomis
The Okeene fifth and sixth-grade basketball teams traveled to Waukomis last Monday for a pair of games with the Chiefs. Unfortunately, both teams fell as the Lady Whippets lost 14-11, and the Whippets lost 29-5.
The Okeene fifth and sixth-grade basketball teams traveled to Waukomis last Monday for a pair of games with the Chiefs. Unfortunately, both teams fell as the Lady Whippets lost 14-11, and the Whippets lost 29-5.
The Okeene Whippets tipped off basketball season last week in Canton Gayle Hajny Invitational. While each team was able to make it to the Consolation Finals of the event, both fell to the host teams as the girls lost 46-45 and the boys lost 41-24.
Last Monday, the Okeene Junior High basketball teams played a pair of away games in Waukomis. However, neither was able to come away with a victory and the Lady Whippets fell 42-21 and the Whippets lost 32-14.
Okeene public schools is hosting a dedication ceremony followed by an open house to commemorate the opening of the school’s new gymnasium located at the school’s sports complex on the north side of town.
Former-Whippet and current-Oklahoma State student Alek Winter is in his second year in Stillwater. After being a multi-sport athlete at Okeene High School, Winter graduated in 2019 and went on to attend his Oklahoma State in search of a high education. However, he has also found a role helping the Cowboys’ football coaching staff this fall.
