The Okeene Whippets opened up their football season last week, with a 20-0 loss in Canton. It wasn’t the way Coach Reese Brickman and the team had hoped to kick off their second season at the eight-man level, but in the end, mistakes would be the difference on this night.
The Okeene Lady Whippets swept a pair of games with Cherokee and Thomas, scoring a combined 33 runs in the process. On Tuesday, Okeene saw 37 Lady Whippets reach base in crazy 21-19 victory that took seven innings. The girls followed that up with a late-game rally to beat Thomas by a score of 12-8 on Thursday.
After only putting one of five games in the win column in the opening week of the season, the Lady Whippets bounced back with a pair of victories over the Lady Railroaders of Waynoka and the Lady Tigers of Timberlake in their only two games of the week.
